3DBigDataSpace – 3D scanning workshops this Thursday

Practical workshops on 3D scanning of cultural heritage objects will take place this Thursday at CBPIO. The event will bring together specialists from leading cultural institutions in Poznań.

These workshops are part of the international 3DBigDataSpace project, which aims to increase the number of high-quality 3D digital replicas of objects from across Europe. PCSS, as one of the project beneficiaries, is responsible not only for software implementation and providing tools, but also actively supports the specialist community through knowledge exchange and fostering collaboration in the field of cultural heritage digitization. Participants will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with advanced digitization techniques, including scanning using structured light and laser scanners, as well as scanning their own artifacts.

The digitized objects will later be displayed within dedicated software being developed as part of the project. The event is co-organized by the New Media Department and the Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms Department of PCSS. Below is the detailed agenda:

 

  • 8:30-9:00 – Welcome and registration
  • 9:00-10:30 – Workshop opening
  • 10:30-11:00 – Coffee break
  • 11:00-13:30 – 3D scanning (theory + practice)
  • 13:30-14:30 – Lunch
  • 14:30-16:00 – Working with digital 3D objects (theory + practice)
  • 16:00-16:30 – Official closing
