Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center) – At the Intersection of Science, Business, and Technology

The Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (PCSS), affiliated with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, is one of Poland’s most significant research and development institutions and a key node in the European Research Area. Since 1993, we have been fulfilling the mission of “Integrating and developing IT infrastructure for science,” linking the world of advanced research with the needs of a modern economy and society.

Three Pillars of Our Activity

At PCSS, we believe that innovations inspired by ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) form the foundation of digital transformation. Our activity is based on three interconnected areas:

Digital Science: We provide world-class e-Infrastructure. We create an environment for breakthrough research, pilot projects, and proof-of-concept experiments.

Digital Economy: We serve as a bridge between science and industry. We support entities – ranging from dynamic startups to global leaders – by providing the know-how and technological facilities that build their competitive advantage.

Social Innovation: We implement technology in service to people. Through education and the fight against digital exclusion, we improve quality of life and increase the technological awareness of society.

Leader in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies

Today, PCSS hosts Poland’s AI factory: PIAST-AI. As one of the most important centers for AI development in Europe, we design and train models that support the public sector, science, and business. We act as a regional innovation incubator, providing laboratories and infrastructure that make the Wielkopolska region a strong point on the world’s digital map.

Parallel to this, within the PIAST-Q initiative, we define the directions for quantum technology development. We create algorithms and prototypes that revolutionize cybersecurity and data analysis. Our priority is technological sovereignty – building secure, Polish solutions that form the foundation of Europe’s digital future.

Global e-Infrastructure Network

As the architect and operator of strategic infrastructure, PCSS designed and maintains:

The PIONIER national broadband network,

The POZMAN Poznań Metropolitan Area Network,

The High-Performance Computing Center.

We provide the scientific and economic community with access to HPC (High-Performance Computing) services, cloud computing, scalable data management systems, and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

Partnership Without Borders

PCSS is a recognized partner on the international stage. We build our potential through cooperation with over 1,000 institutions from 60 countries across 6 continents. To date, we have completed nearly 400 research and structural projects (including dozens as a coordinator), covering a broad spectrum of fields:

Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, Smart City, robotics, drones, digital humanities, personalized medicine, Industry 4.0, and solutions for climate and energy.

Where Science Meets Business

We are a partner that supports the innovation process at every stage – from a bold idea to effective implementation. We offer:

Prototyping: Creating solutions ready for practical application.

Specialized Laboratories: Access to unique equipment and secure testing environments.

Knowledge Transfer: Training, expert reports, and support in scaling projects.
