FIW 2012 in Aalborg: Smart Cities and Internet of Things
Another “stop” of the Future Internet Conference Week held twice a year, after Poznan (Poland) is Danish Aalborg. The largest meeting of experts in the area of “Future Internet” will be held from 7 to 11 May. Traditionally, the conference is accompanied by an exhibition, during which Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center will present its achievements.

Taking place once every six months, the FIW event is closely related to one of the EU Member States, actually holding Presidency of the EU structures. The main purpose of the event is to present, promote and identify “Future Internet” projects co-financed by the European Commission. On this occasion, many open or more specialized meetings are held, such as: project meetings, workshops or meetings of communities cooperating on specific aspects of the implementation of the next generation Internet.

The last conference of this series was hosted by the capital of Wielkopolska Region – Poznan (http://www.week.fi-poznan.eu). The meeting, organized under the Polish Presidency, was devoted to discussion and exchange of experiences in R & D and innovation-related issues in the context of the Future Internet and regional development.

The theme of the Danish conference is “Smart Cities and the Internet of Things”. PSNC presents its achievements on the exhibition stand under the motto of “Future Internet Applications” presenting: high definition videoconferencing service as a part of the e-learning system, HomeNetMedia – multimedia in the home space, HomeNetEnergy – intelligent energy management in distributed locations, Digital Library of the Patient, 4KStreamer – network transmission of the high-definition content and MobiWatch – security system and monitoring in the FIE (Future Internet Engineering project).
