NEM Summit 2025 – HERIFORGE project presented in Berlin

On October 21–22, the 16th edition of the NEM Summit took place in the German capital. It was organised by the European NEM Initiative cooperation platform. It brings together projects, companies, and academic units working with multimedia, immersive technologies, and virtual worlds. PCSS was represented by the Head of the New Media Department – Maciej Głowiak.

This year’s edition of the event focused particularly on issues related to immersive technologies and VR. Ethical, business, and regulatory aspects of the XR/VR industries were covered in detail. There were discussions about the use of generative AI in the media sector, as well as about the tools and standards necessary for creating inclusive immersive experiences in the context of cultural heritage and media. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with representatives from the European Commission and business partners, including the Partnership for Virtual Worlds, XR4Europe, and the 6G Industry Association.

The HERIFORGE project aligns perfectly with the theme of utilizing immersive technologies in the broad field of cultural heritage. It aims to create a network of connected research and innovation hubs in Poland, Cyprus, and Turkey. The project, which actively supports innovation in the cultural heritage sector through the use of XR technology, was presented by Maciej Głowiak. This year, the PCSS representative was also appointed as a member of the NEM Steering Board.
