Comeback full of innovation
Our Dear Readers,
In this issue of PCSS News, we would like to share the results of our recent activities and highlight upcoming events where technology intersects with science, culture, and business.
September inevitably brings a return to a more intense work period, the pursuit of ambitious plans and new challenges. In this issue of PCSS News, we aim to share the results of our recent activities and highlight upcoming events where technology intersects with science, culture, and business.
September at PCSS is packed with key meetings and launches. Our headquarters will soon host the first event in the “Innovative Poznań” series, focusing on bio-based materials and food. One of our experts participated in the młodo_sfera festival to discuss the impact of AI on the job market. We are also taking a significant step forward in infrastructure: the PIONIER-Q-SAT initiative is linking our terrestrial quantum network to satellite technologies. Meanwhile, a ten-year European partnership dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage from climate change is to be launched in Marseille.
There is good news regarding data spaces and virtual wordls as well: we have successfully concludedthe 3DBigDataSpace project and have joined the international ViWAS project as the sole Polish partner.
We would also like to invite you to visit our blog, where we explain the complexities of AI and quantum computing in an accessible way. Finally, we are pleased to announce the premiere of a new episode of the Poland Passion Nation documentary series on TVP World, featuring PCSS as its main subject.
Happy reading!

Coming Up
On September 29th, PCSS will host the first meeting in the “Innovative Poznań” series, dedicated to bio-based raw materials and food for conscious consumers. The event, led by Professor Arkadiusz Kawa, PhD, DSc, of the Poznań University of Economics, is a space for connecting business with the potential of Poznań’s leading research institutions.
Dr. Bartosz Walter, DSc, Eng., from the Data Engineering and Analytical Platforms Department at the PCSS, participated in the first edition of the młodo_sfera Festival. During the event, PCSS expert participated in a panel discussion devoted to the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market and emerging new professional specializations.
PCSS is co-creating the PIONIER-Q-SAT project, a continuation of the success of the PIONIER-Q terrestrial quantum network. The new initiative combines infrastructure on the ground with satellite technologies, creating the foundation for fully secure digital systems. During the Warsaw meeting, the partners discussed plans for integrating the satellite segment and building a mobile ground station.
Projects
The European RCH partnership, with the participation of PCSS, will launch in Marseille at the end of September. The initiative brings together 90 entities from 30 countries and aims to protect and enhance the resilience of cultural heritage to the effects of climate change. This ten-year project, co-funded by the Horizon Europe program, will connect researchers, practitioners, and local communities.
The 3DBigDataSpace project, carried out with the participation of PCSS and TMO, has concluded after more than a year. This initiative increased the availability of 3D cultural heritage assets within the European data space and boosted their use in XR and AR technologies. As part of the project activities, PCSS hosted an international forum and industry workshops.
PCSS has joined the international ViWAS project, which aims to create an online competence center for virtual worlds and XR technologies. As the sole Polish partner, the Center will become a strategic access point for Polish institutions developing augmented reality technologies.
