October marked by innovation

We invite You to read the latest edition of the PCSS newsletter, summarizing October – a month of groundbreaking projects, strategic partnerships, and notable achievements. We are delighted to share the latest developments in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and scientific and business collaboration.

We invited you to the PIAST-AI Business Day on November 13, where we showcased practical, ready-to-implement AI solutions. EuroHPC JU is also strengthening the European AI infrastructure network by establishing the Moldovan branch of the AI Factory (FAIMA), in close coordination with our PIAST-AI factory.

October brought a breakthrough – ORCA Computing announced a plan to integrate photonic quantum AI into data centers, demonstrated in collaboration with PCSS and Imperial College London. In addition, PCSS has joined the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications, strengthening its voice within the ICT sector. At the same time, we signed an agreement with Collegium Da Vinci to create new opportunities for students in hands-on education.

Among the highlights, we proudly note the Virtuti Medicinali 2025 Award for Dr. Eng. Cezary Mazurek, recognizing his scientific contributions. We are also actively participating in three new projects within the European Cloud for Cultural Heritage, supporting digital innovation in culture.

We invite you to explore the photo report from PIAST-AI Business Day, which took place on November 13 at PCSS. During the event, we discussed whether companies truly need artificial intelligence, bringing together perspectives from science, business, and public administration to talk about the future of innovation. We also presented the AI resources and capabilities we already offer to representatives of Polish businesses. The day featured inspiring networking with experts and practitioners, and a visit to PCSS laboratories and the Data Center allowed participants to see firsthand how advanced infrastructure supports the development of future technologies.

AI Factory Antennas will connect Poland and Moldova

EuroHPC JU is strengthening the network of European artificial intelligence infrastructure. The investment involves the creation of 13 AI Factory Antennas, enabling new partner countries to gain access to existing AI Factories without the need to build their own. As part of the project, the Moldovan AI Factory Antenna (FAIMA) will be established. It will operate in close coordination with the PIAST-AI Factory based at PCSS.

Innovative Collaboration Between PCSS, ORCA Computing, and Imperial College London

In the second half of September 2025, ORCA Computing announced a plan to integrate photonic quantum AI within the operations of on-premise data centers. This technology was demonstrated in collaboration with PCSS and Imperial College London. The cooperation combines leading scientific and research expertise within a functioning data center environment.

We are pleased to announce that PCSS has joined the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications. For PCSS, membership in PIIT is a natural step in its development, enabling direct dialogue with key stakeholders in the private sector. This will allow us to turn scientific innovations more effectively into real solutions for the economy and society.

Collegium Da Vinci and PCSS Join Forces for Students and Technology

Collegium Da Vinci (CDV) and PCSS have officially begun their collaboration by signing an agreement that will significantly strengthen ties between the academic community and the advanced technology sector. The partnership aims to create new opportunities for CDV students in practical education and access to the latest technological solutions.

Dr inż. Cezary Mazurek Among the Recipients of Virtuti Medicinali 2025

This prestigious distinction, awarded by the Polish Neuropsychological Society, was presented during the ceremonial opening of the 26th Congress of the Polish Neuropsychological Society. The theme of this year’s congress was: “Clinical Neuropsychology and Medicine – Contemporary Challenges in the Diagnosis and Rehabilitation of Patients with Brain Injuries.”

NEM Summit 2025 – HERIFORGE project presented in Berlin

At the prestigious NEM Summit in Berlin, the HERIFORGE project was presented, supporting XR innovation in cultural heritage. PCSS was represented by Maciej Głowiak, who introduced the initiative for creating a network of research and innovation hubs in Poland, Turkey, and Cyprus. This year’s event focused, among other topics, on immersive technologies, VR, as well as ethics and AI in media. Maciej Głowiak was also appointed this year as a member of the NEM Steering Board.

Project meeting of the KMD4EOSC consortium

On October 16-17, 2025, the consortium of the KMD4EOSC project met at the Tricity Academic Computer Network Computing Center (CI TASK) to review progress and set development directions for the coming months. Key discussions focused on creating innovative AI and data storage solutions aimed at establishing a national EOSC node and supporting the principles of open science.

PCSS in Three New ECHOES Projects Within the ECCCH

As an official partner of the European Cloud for Heritage OpEn Science – Echoes, we are participating in the implementation of three new projects under the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage initiative. The projects are titled StratiGraph, INFINITY, and ECHOLOT, and all focus on cultural heritage. The first of them, StratiGraph, began in October, while the remaining two projects will start in January 2026.
