The Director of PCSS Robert Pękal has been appointed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski, to the 6th term of the Council for Digitization. This prestigious group of experts provides the Ministry of Digital Affairs with invaluable knowledge and experience, reviewing key strategic documents and generating ideas that shape the future of Poland’s information society.

PCSS has officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding establishing AI4LAM (Artificial Intelligence for Libraries, Archives, and Museums). The document was signed during the Fantastic Future 2025 conference at the British Library, alongside representatives from more than 40 global institutions.

On December 8, PCSS welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, headed by Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz. During the visit, we presented our strategic research infrastructure and discussed the crucial role of the Center in providing advanced e-infrastructure services for science, government, and business. The meeting underscored the vital contribution of PCSS to the digital transformation of Poland and its regions.

The pilot edition of the MIND Challenge incubation program, coordinated by PCSS reached its conclusion in December. During the formal Demo Day held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, participants presented innovative prototypes developed by interdisciplinary teams in the spirit of the living lab methodology. The competition was won by the “Mieszanka Studencka” (Student’s Mix) team, which got recognized for their application called “Oczko”.

PCSS specialists participated in a very special conference of the Wrocław University Library, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the institution and the 20th anniversary of its Digital Library. During the event, our representatives took part in panel discussions, summarizing two decades of the Library’s cooperation with PCSS as the primary technological partner in creating innovative solutions for science and culture.

The event organized by the publishers of the “Biomass Magazine” once again attracted numerous representatives from the agricultural, technological, and energy sectors, who—in close cooperation with investors and administrative bodies—are shaping the future of Polish agriculture. During the event, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre in Warsaw, Gerard Frankowski delivered his presentation on cybersecurity.

As a part of the EuroQCI initiative, PCSS is developing key projects in quantum communication (QKD) and satellite communication, building secure technological bridges between Poland and the rest of Europe. The expansion of the PIONIER-Q infrastructure, supported by a record budget of 16 million EUR, will enable full integration with EU member state systems and strengthen data transmission security on an international level.

As the leader of an international consortium, PCSS is set to inaugurate a vital project on 2 February 2026, to bolster the resilience of Europe’s UTC time infrastructure. As a part of the ESA’s NAVISP program, the project focuses on testing ELSTAB and White Rabbit technologies as secure, ground-based alternatives to satellite-based synchronization. By safeguarding against GNSS outages, this initiative plays a key role in securing the energy, financial, and telecom industries.

In early December 2025, a plenary meeting of the international OpenAgri project was held in Ghent, Belgium, focusing on the development of open-source technologies for agriculture. PCSS presented the results of the Polish pilot: an intelligent irrigation system for potato crops that achieved yields 26% higher than the reference field, while simultaneously minimizing water consumption.

As a part of the Poznań City Lab initiative, an innovative virtual space has been launched to showcase advanced technological solutions developed in Poznań. The project, based on Digital Twin technology, serves as a platform for testing and demonstrating Artificial Intelligence systems and modern digital infrastructure.
