PCSS expert co‑author of a scientific publication in a prestigious journal on the modular reference architecture of SHOP4CF

The article “The SHOP4CF modular reference architecture for flexible process-oriented, data-driven smart manufacturing” by Paul Grefen, Michał Zimniewicz (PCSS, Large-Scale Applications and Services Department), Irene Vanderfeesten, Kostas Tragonas, Pieter Becue, Anders Pedersen, and Genessis Perez Rivera has been published in issue 85 of the Journal of Manufacturing Systems, available on ScienceDirect.

The paper presents the SHOP4CF reference architecture for smart manufacturing, designed as a modular and process-oriented foundation for the digital transformation of factories. The architecture is based on insights from 36 real-world industrial use cases across Europe and demonstrates how to implement data-driven solutions in practice, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises.

The SHOP4CF reference architecture project builds on both scientific and practical knowledge in the field of digital architecture and on key industrial standards such as ISA-95 and RAMI 4.0. The architecture integrates software and data structures with lifecycle models of solutions and digital components, ensuring consistency between product and process perspectives in digital innovations.

This work is the result of the SHOP4CF project, implemented in recent years by PCSS. Within the project, PCSS was responsible for the architecture of solutions developed for factories by partner institutions.
