PCSS Is Among the Signatories of AI4LAM
Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center has become a signatory of the Memorandum of Understanding that formally establishes AI4LAM (Artificial Intelligence for Libraries, Archives and Museums). The signing took place during the Fantastic Future 2025 conference held on 3–5 December 2025 at the British Library, with representatives from more than 40 institutions worldwide in attendance.
AI4LAM is a global partnership designed to support the development of safe, transparent, and public-oriented artificial intelligence technologies tailored specifically for the cultural heritage sector — including libraries, archives, and museums.

The initiative plays a key role in shaping the future of memory institutions by:

  • Uniting experts from libraries, archives, and museums to collaborate on responsible AI applications.
  • Supporting the development of innovative tools, such as enhanced search functions, automatic metadata generation, and other AI-powered solutions that improve services for users, researchers, and cultural institutions themselves.

During the event, Aleksandra Nowak, Head of the Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms at PCSS, delivered a presentation showcasing European and Polish achievements in artificial intelligence, highlighting advanced technologies such as the PIAST-AI computing system and PIAST-Q quantum computer — illustrating how these emerging infrastructures can effectively support the cultural heritage and scientific sectors.

PCSS has been engaged in AI-related work for a long time now, developing applications that enhance information services, content analysis, and resource accessibility. The Centre views artificial intelligence as a powerful tool to expand accessibility, discoverability, and social value within cultural heritage domains.
