PCSS Joins the Innovation Prototyping Lab in Zagreb

On 1–3 October 2025, the first Innovation Prototyping Lab (IPL) took place at Infobip Zagreb. What’s interesting, IPL is an event bringing together the communities of both LUMEN and GRAPHIA projects. It is dedicated to co-creating innovative solutions, experimenting, and fostering cross-sector collaboration. PCSS was represented at this three-day-long meeting by Aleksandra Nowak, Paweł Marciniak, Arkadiusz Margraf, and Marcin Płóciennik.

The main goal of this year’s Innovation Prototyping Lab was to experiment with new co-design methods, support technical development within both initiatives (LUMEN and GRAPHIA), and engage the project community in an interdisciplinary process of collaboration. The workshop methodology, developed by project partner Industry Commons Foundation, was based on a cross-sectoral approach that combines different areas of expertise to create shared innovative solutions.

The IPL programme was structured around thematic blocks:

  • Day 1: Humans in the loop – governance, ethics, trust and co-creation
  • Day 2: Prototyping tools for knowledge exploration
  • Day 3: Exploitation, service and business models

Throughout the event, participants took part in workshops, presentations, user testing sessions, and lectures — all designed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and joint exploration of new technological solutions.

A day before the start of the IPL, on 30 September 2025, the LUMEN General Assembly meeting was held. During the event, Paweł Marciniak, the coordinator of this project at PCSS, presented the progress of all the ongoing activities, with particular focus on Work Package 5 (WP5), which is actually coordinated by our Center.

Representatives of PCSS actively participated in all three days of the IPL, contributing to workshops, discussion panels, and working sessions.
Participation in the Zagreb events helped strengthen collaboration with project partners and paved the way for further development of the LUMEN and GRAPHIA projects. These meetings represented an important step in advancing the tasks for which PCSS is responsible within both initiatives.
