PCSS supported the NORDUnet 2026 conference in Sweden

The northern Swedish city of Luleå hosted the latest edition of NORDUnet 2026, which is a prestigious conference for Scandinavian research and academic networks. Once again, PCSS was entrusted with providing comprehensive audiovisual support and technical services for this three-day event. This year’s proceedings showcased key achievements by PCSS and the PIONIER network, particularly in the fields of quantum technologies.

The gathering on the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia served as an important forum for discussing the latest challenges facing the international scientific and technological community. The agenda covered topics such as laying undersea fiber-optic cables, utilizing the International Space Station as a research laboratory, and conducting strategic analyses in the era of rapid artificial intelligence development.

Significant attention was also paid to comparing European research projects with global investments made by Big Tech companies, as well as the future of National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) in the context of the emergence of “AI Factories.” Throughout the presentations, the activities of PCSS and the Polish PIONIER network were frequently cited as examples of leading-edge technological solutions.

A strong emphasis was placed on investments in secure quantum communication and an extensive track record of projects involving ultra-precise time and frequency distribution. Great importance was attached to international collaboration and face-to-face meetings, which even in an era of widespread digitalization remain crucial for building relationships and launching new projects. The next edition of the NORDUnet conference is scheduled for 2028 in Tampere, Finland, while the agreements and memoranda reached are currently entering the implementation phase.
