PIAST-AI: where history meets technology
Ostrów Tumski in Poznań has symbolized beginnings for centuries. It was here that the first rulers resided, where Polish statehood was born, and where our presence in the European community began. Today, in the immediate vicinity of this historical space, we are defining the future.
At the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), together with the Poznań University of Technology, Adam Mickiewicz University, and Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, we are building the PIAST-AI Factory. We consciously refer to our roots, connecting the continuity of the first centers of knowledge with the most modern technological development center in this part of Europe.
What is an AI FACTORY?
AI Factories are dynamic ecosystems built around the most powerful supercomputers. Their mission is to provide European industry and science with the tools necessary to train large language models and create groundbreaking innovations. The infrastructure is owned by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
PIAST-AI is one of two Polish AI Factories. Together with the Gaia AI Factory (Kraków), 19 other centers and 13 satellites across Europe, we are building the continent’s technological sovereignty. We provide startups and SMEs with free access to computing power and specialized business development support.

PIAST-AI in facts and figures
- EUR 100 million project budget (funded 50% by the EU and 50% from the state budget).
- Developing innovative approaches, including quantum-enhanced artificial intelligence (integration with the PIAST-Q infrastructure).
- Providing support for FAIMA (the Moldovan AI Factory Antenna).
- Full infrastructure operability planned for 2027.
