Poznań is emerging as one of the pillars of artificial intelligence in Central and Eastern Europe, and the Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (PCSS) plays a key role in this process. As the operator of the PIONIER network and the national leader in research infrastructure, PCSS is laying the foundation for the development of large-scale AI systems, combining unique expertise with the highest data security standards.
The scientific AI factory – PIAST AI – now serves as a key backbone for projects transforming the face of modern technologies. One of the most significant examples of these initiatives is the PLASMA model, developed through collaboration between the Adam Mickiewicz University Center for Artificial Intelligence, PCSS, and Beyond.pl.
This is Poland’s first Speech-to-Speech voice model, enabling natural dialogue without the need to convert speech to text. Thanks to advanced algorithms trained on powerful computational resources, the system can recognize the gender and age of the interlocutor directly from the speech signal. This solution sets a new direction in research on human-machine interaction.
PCSS’s activities also provide real support for the public sector and the development of smart cities. Within the Poznań CityLab initiative, practical applications of artificial intelligence are being tested, including advanced digital twin city projects (Digital Twin). The available HPC (High Performance Computing) infrastructure enables efficient processing of massive datasets. Combined with academic expertise and business potential, this creates conditions for building secure AI solutions fully compliant with European regulations.
The scale of investments underway, the availability of energy infrastructure, and the integrated potential of PCSS and Beyond.pl position Poznań as a natural location for a future AI Gigafactory. Existing resources allow for the immediate implementation of projects requiring the highest power density and stringent security standards.

The project “Genomika dla Polski” (G4PL) is funded by the European Union under the FENG programme (European Funds for a Modern Economy), Action 2.4 – Research Infrastructure of the Modern Economy.
