Preserving, Protecting and Reusing Cultural Heritage at Europeana 2025

On 11 and 12 June 2025, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw is hosting the annual EUROPEANA conference, dedicated to European cultural heritage. The event is organized by the Europeana Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, and the conference host – the POLIN Museum. This year’s edition is a part of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. PCSS is represented at this event by Aleksandra Nowak (Head of the Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms Department) and Paweł Marciniak (Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms Department).

Preserve, Protect, Reuse is the motto of this edition of Europeana – which in the context of cultural heritage seems to be pretty self-explanatory. The hot topic this spring is Data Space for Cultural Heritage – something PCSS co-creates, providing over 6.3 million records through FBC (Digital Libraries Federation), and supports at the same time technologically.

Europeana is also an excellent opportunity to learn more about European projects with PCSS’s involvement:

  • ECHOES
The development of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) and the data space.
  • 3D-BIG Data Space
Developing a 3D data space for cultural heritage and creative industries.
  • 3D-4CH
Building a European competence center for 3D technologies in cultural heritage, with an emphasis on supporting Ukraine.

For those unable to attend the conference in person, a live online broadcast of the event is available.
