Assessment of Time Transfer Techniques For Resilient Regional (Transnational) UTC Infrastructure
Assessment of Time Transfer Techniques For Resilient Regional (Transnational) UTC Infrastructure

Precise access to time and frequency signals is critical for many sectors of the economy, such as telecommunications, transportation, finance, banking, and energy. It is estimated that the economic impact of a few days’ interruption in the supply of time signals from GNSS could cost over £1 billion per day. Therefore, there is a need to provide these sectors of the economy and critical infrastructure with access to reliable sources of precise time and frequency using GNSS-complementary techniques.

The project aims to test and verify available solutions for time and frequency transmission, such as ELSTAB or White Rabbit, which can serve as alternatives to GNSS systems.

The project is being carried out under the NAVISP program: NAVigation Innovation Support Programme Element 1 – Innovation in Satellite Navigation.
