Elixir-Converge

From December 2021, the development of infrastructure, services and tools solutions offered by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS together with the affiliated Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre through the COVID-19 Data Portal Poland is carried out within the ELIXIR-CONVERGE project (work package WP9: Mobilisation of SARS-CoV-2 variant surveillance data tracking services and tools).

The aim of the ELIXIR-CONVERGE project is to support standardisation processes for life science data management in Europe. The WP9 work package of the project focuses in particular on developing solutions for the rapid and fully open sharing of SARS-CoV-2 genomic data allowing the monitoring and tracking of the genetic variation of the virus. These objectives coincide with the activities carried out by COVID-19 Data Portal Poland in mobilising and making COVID-19 data publicly available.

The ELIXIR-CONVERGE project is funded by the European Commission from February 2020 to January 2023. It involves scientific units from more than 20 European countries. The European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) is responsible for coordinating the initiative together with a number of partners developing the ELIXIR European Science Infrastructure, as well as the European COVID-19 Data Platform, of which the COVID-19 Data Portal Poland is a part.
