
The European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) initiative aims to build a secure and resilient pan-European communication network based on quantum technologies. This network will support critical services for Europe’s digital society, including data protection, high-performance computing (HPC), quantum computing, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Cross-border collaboration is a key element in achieving this vision.
This Project contributes to the EuroQCI initiative by designing and implementing dedicated quantum communication links between Slovakia, Czechia, and Poland. By leveraging the expertise of its diverse partners fields of expertise, ie. research and education, public institutions, HPC centers, and network operators, the Project will not only strengthen local and regional cooperation but also provide valuable input to the wider EuroQCI community.
The project will implement redundant and reliable QCI links to ensure secure communication services, taking advantage of partners’ dark fiber infrastructure. It will explore use cases that build on specific partner expertise in secure services, quantum technologies, and digital innovation. In addition, the consortium will develop operational procedures, interfaces, and scenarios for deploying quantum communication infrastructure. Strong collaboration will be maintained with the EuroQCI community, national projects, cross-border initiatives, and GÉANT, the pan-European research and education network. Project will also contribute to Europe’s technological sovereignty and digital resilience. It will improve reliability and backup capacity for critical networks, support new applications in HPC, quantum computing, and AI, and foster innovation in secure digital services. The project’s balanced consortium ensures synergies across sectors, driving long-term benefits for citizens, research, and industry while strengthening Europe’s role in quantum communication.
