Head of the Department of Otolaryngology and Laryngological Oncology, University of Medical Sciences, Professor Witold Szyfter talked about modern technologies and, above all, about all the possibilities offered by the Internet in the “live” transmission in the course of complex surgical operations. Thanks to cooperation with PSNC, a camera during such a treatment follows every step of surgeons. Image and sound are transmitted through high-quality HD.
PSNC’s cooperation with the clinic in Poznan resulted in a dozen of “live” broadcasts straight from the operating rooms. One of the most important was the fifth of the global videoconferencing otolaryngological and neurological operations, organized by the LION foundation. The essence of the project was the simultaneous “live” transmission from the operating tables in various parts of the world. Interactive, because the receivers had contact with physicians and could ask them questions through the moderators.
PSNC has provided not only technical support in the form of audio and video conferencing HD devices, but also provided a dedicated link to broadband optical network PIONIER.
The eDWIN advisory platform, whose originator is the Wielkopolska Agricultural Advisory Center in partnership with PSNC, received two Gold Medals at the Polagra Premiery fair. The awards are given to innovative products appreciated by experts as well as consumers and fair participants.
The latest issue of the journal "Biodiversity: Research and Conservation" is devoted entirely to the AMUNATCOLL project. After two years, the Crisis Management Workshop (CLAW) - crisis management event for the GÉANT community - returned to the stationary form at the headquaters of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. For two days (November 29-30), participants of the meeting discussed, but also took part in practical activities to jointly solve a crisis in the fictional academic network GuilREN.
On November 26, 2022, the Art&Science space hosted a workshop on motion capture technology. Three demonstrations were presented during the one-day event. The workshop was organized by Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center in cooperation with Animatsuri Association and VocaLive.
On November 23, 2022, the 7th edition of the European Laryngological Live Surgery Broadcast will be held at the Polish Optical Internet Research Center, the headquarters of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. The 49/2022 issue of "Polityka" weekly featured an article prepared by the National Information Processing Institute (OPI) on several projects from the Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructures: PRACE-LAB, NLPQT, DARIAH. Two of these projects - PRACE-LAB and DARIAH - are coordinated by the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. PSNC is also a partner in the NLPQT project.
illuMINEation is a multi-level distributed IIoT platform dedicated to the European mining industry, based on the use of data analytics and new types of technology, in particular the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). A consortium including the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center will work on the platform.
PSNC booth at ISC 2022 Conference was devoted to the use of data and HPC infrastructure (High Performance Computing) to build IT services, the support for projects from the Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructures, as well as key European projects from the ESFRI map (European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructure).

For people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD), interaction with the environment is not so easy. In most cases, they are probably dependent on family and caregivers to carry out even basic functions due to severe physical and sensory impairments. And if their communication is not through conventional symbols and at the pre-verbal level, this makes life even more difficult. Such people will be supported by the INSENSION platform, co-created by PSNC.
