Robert Pękal, Director of PCSS, has been appointed as a member of the 6th term of the Council for Digitization by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski. This appointment confirms the Center’s expert role in shaping the strategic directions of Poland’s information society and digital economy development. The first meeting of the newly established advisory body is scheduled for January 16, 2026.
The main task of the Council for Digitization is to provide substantive support to the Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Committee for Digitization by reviewing strategic documents, draft legal acts, and proposed positions on EU regulations. The Council’s work focuses on key areas of digital transformation such as cybersecurity, digital inclusion, online privacy protection, and the implementation of modern ICT systems in public administration.
Participation of a PSNC representative in this body brings in over 25 years of experience in managing complex national and international research and development projects. During the forthcoming term, experts will cooperate on removing barriers to the growth of the data-driven economy and reforming intellectual property law in the digital environment.
The Council’s composition, which includes distinguished representatives of academia and the technology sector, ensures an interdisciplinary approach to the informatization of the state and the development of transformative technologies, including artificial intelligence. Active involvement in the Council’s work allows for a tangible impact on shaping the innovation ecosystem and enhancing the digital competencies of citizens.

EuroQCI: Quantum Connections Between Poland and Europe Coming Soon

Strategic projects for the development of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) communications, together with the satellite-based PIONIER-Q-SAT project, will connect the national PIONIER-Q network with the infrastructures of other EU countries. An Agreement for Cooperation within the EdgePL Project

OpenAgri project presented in Belgium

On 1–2 December 2025, the plenary meeting of the international OpenAgri project, focused on developing open technologies for agriculture, was held in Ghent, Belgium. PCSS presented the results of the Polish pilot – an intelligent potato crop irrigation system that increased yields by as much as 26% compared to the reference field, while simultaneously minimizing water consumption.
