Robert Pękal appointed to the Council for Digitization

Robert Pękal, Director of PCSS, has been appointed as a member of the 6th term of the Council for Digitization by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski. This appointment confirms the Center’s expert role in shaping the strategic directions of Poland’s information society and digital economy development. The first meeting of the newly established advisory body is scheduled for January 16, 2026.

The main task of the Council for Digitization is to provide substantive support to the Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Committee for Digitization by reviewing strategic documents, draft legal acts, and proposed positions on EU regulations. The Council’s work focuses on key areas of digital transformation such as cybersecuritydigital inclusiononline privacy protection, and the implementation of modern ICT systems in public administration.

Participation of a PSNC representative in this body brings in over 25 years of experience in managing complex national and international research and development projects. During the forthcoming term, experts will cooperate on removing barriers to the growth of the data-driven economy and reforming intellectual property law in the digital environment.

The Council’s composition, which includes distinguished representatives of academia and the technology sector, ensures an interdisciplinary approach to the informatization of the state and the development of transformative technologies, including artificial intelligence. Active involvement in the Council’s work allows for a tangible impact on shaping the innovation ecosystem and enhancing the digital competencies of citizens.
