The 3D-4CH project has just reached its halfway point

The 3D-4CH project has just reached its halfway point after 18 months full of intense work on the development of the Online Competence Centre for 3D Cultural Heritage. PCSS is actively participating in this initiative, supporting the creation and integration of a European community centered around digital heritage, science, and modern technologies.

Since the beginning of 2026, the project launched 7 online courses divided into 6 thematic modules, provided 45 tools specialised in the field of digital heritage, and contributed 80 resources to the knowledge base. Efforts were also made to ensure the availability of multilingual content with automatic subtitles and the expansion of the network of cooperation among professionals and institutions across Europe. Beyond building the platform, the community was integrated through the organization of a Winter School, stakeholder forums, and workshops, while support was also provided for making Ukrainian 3D cultural heritage available via Europeana.eu.

PCSS was strategically involved in the creation of the 3D Competence Centre, including the development of courses and training materials, organizing the workshops, providing case studies and best practices, and co-creating tools for processing and editing of 3D objects. The PCSS team provides ongoing technological and advisory support to the entire project consortium as well.

The following 18 months of work will be dedicated to expanding the training offer, increasing the reuse of 3D content, strengthening crucial international partnerships, and ensuring a sustainable future for the Competence Centre.
