The Anniversary Edition of the European Laryngological Surgery Session

PCSS once again served as a global tele-medicine hub as our Center hosted the 10th edition of the European Laryngological Surgery live broadcast. Thanks to our advanced network infrastructure, tens of thousands of viewers from around the world were able to follow surgeries performed at European clinics — which only confirms the significant role PCSS has in international medical education.

The heart of the broadcast was the PCSS studio located at our headquarters, which coordinated direct online connections with various surgery clinics across Europe. This setup enabled simultaneous real-time viewing of complex surgical procedures.

During the live transmission, ENT-surgeons carried out operations on patients with critical pathologies of the throat, larynx and neck. The robust PCSS infrastructure ensured stability and high-quality streaming — essential for precise delivery of medical knowledge.

Participating clinics were interconnected via the remote medical collaboration platform medVC, which supports multipoint real-time audio-video communication. medVC enables simultaneous high-definition video streams from surgical cameras, microscopes, endoscopes and other medical devices.

As usual, the event drew tens of thousands of participants — physicians, medical students, and other interested professionals from around the globe. Their engagement shows an extraordinary range and impact of this educational initiative. During the broadcast, world-class experts like Prof. Małgorzata Wierzbicka and Prof. Witold Szyfter oversaw the procedures and provided commentary from the PCSS studio.

It is worth emphasizing that this initiative reaches regions rarely covered by such specialized live broadcasts. During last year’s edition, for instance, the signal reached remote and exotic locations such as Cambodia, Madagascar, Mali or Martinique.

This year’s session was organised by the European Laryngological Society (ELS), in partnership with the Poznań City Council and the Poznań University of Medical Sciences.
