The first Cybersecure SMEs training is in the books
On November 6, 2025, the first edition of the training “Cybersecure SMEs: Practical training for small and medium-sized enterprises” took place. The event marked an important milestone in strengthening cybersecurity skills within the SME sector. It was organized under the EDIH CyberSec – National Centre for Secure Digital Transformation project, led by PCSS. The training drew not only a high turnout but also exceptional participant engagement, confirming the strong demand for practical educational initiatives in this area.
The training program was designed as an intensive, hands-on conference aimed at addressing the most critical cybersecurity challenges faced by SMEs. Speakers—practitioners representing leading institutions and partner companies—guided participants through key thematic areas.

The day began with a presentation titled “A Small Business in the Crosshairs of Hackers,” delivered by Gerard Frankowski, Head of the ICT Security Department at PCSS. The session examined the most common types of cyberattacks, including phishing and social engineering.

Subsequent expert sessions covered:

  • Legal aspects: key requirements resulting from the NIS2 Directive.
  • Risk management: core principles for implementing cybersecurity governance within an organization.
  • Technical safeguards: an overview of essential security systems and protection mechanisms.
  • Financial protection: strategies for securing company funds in digital banking environments.
  • Advanced threats: a dedicated session on real-world attacks targeting production networks (OT/ICS) and current challenges involving Artificial Intelligence.

Active participation from SME representatives was evident during both the Q&A session and informal discussions. The depth and precision of the questions emphasized the sector’s growing need for practical, specialized cybersecurity knowledge.

For PCSS, as the project leader of EDIH CyberSec – National Centre for Secure Digital Transformation, the outcomes provide valuable validation of its educational mission directed toward the SME community. PCSS experts remain convinced of the importance of continuing such initiatives, and work is already underway to plan future editions of the training.

Warm thanks go to all participants for their presence and for creating an exceptional, knowledge-driven atmosphere.
