The new TOP500 ranking announced at SC25 shows supercomputers at PCSS are among the best

During the ongoing SC Conference in St. Louis, USA, the current TOP500 list has just been announced, presenting the ranking of the fastest supercomputers in the world. Our system PROXIMA was ranked 128th, and ALTAIR was ranked 360th.

The TOP500 project was established in 1993 to modernize and extend the Mannheim supercomputer statistics, which had been maintained for seven years.

In the latest ranking, 5 more Polish machines operating as part of the national scientific infrastructure were listed:

  • #96 HELIOS, ACK CYFRONET AGH (previously ranked 85th)
  • #141, LEM, WCSS (previously 121st)
  • #250, KRAKEN-FREGATA, CI TASK (previously 217th)
  • #280 ATHENA, CYFRONET (previously 246th)
  • #415 HELIOS CPU, CYFRONET (previously 386th)

It is noteworthy that the top positions on the list are dominated by supercomputers from the United States, followed by a system from Germany:

  • #1 El Capitano
  • #2 Frontier
  • #3 Aurora
  • #4 Juniper

The top ten is completed by machines from the US, Japan, and some representatives of the Old Continent:

  • #5 Eagle (USA)
  • #6 HPC6 (Italy)
  • #7 Supercomputer Fugaku (Japan)
  • #8 Alps (Switzerland)
  • #9 LUMI (Finland)
  • #10 Leonardo (Italy)
