Visit of Wielkopolski National Park Representatives to PCSS

A meeting took place at PCSS with representatives from the management and staff of the Wielkopolski National Park. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the guests with the advanced research infrastructure and discuss the potential of digital solutions for environmental protection. The event laid the foundation for future collaboration at the intersection of natural sciences and IT technology.

During the visit, key elements of the PCSS infrastructure were presented, including modern laboratories and the data center. Particular attention was devoted to computing clusters such as the Proxima system, which enable the processing of vast datasets (Big Data)—essential for modern ecosystem monitoring and modeling of natural processes.

The substantive part of the meeting focused on exchanging experiences in the use of breakthrough technologies. Among the priority discussion areas were:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Using machine learning algorithms for analyzing satellite imagery and automated monitoring of fauna and flora,

  • Natural data management: Systems for collecting and securely storing field research results.

  • Digital support for resource protection: Optimizing forest and water resource management processes using advanced analytical tools.

The knowledge exchange between PCSS experts and WPN representatives was assessed as a promising starting point for implementing innovative Nature-Tech projects. Integrating digital potential with natural science expertise aligns with the sustainable development strategy and the creation of modern tools for protecting Polish nature.
