FAIR2Adapt is a multidisciplinary project funded under Horizon Europe, aimed at transforming data into actionable knowledge to support climate adaptation strategies. The project closely collaborates with the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), leveraging its services, the FAIR Implementation Framework Catalogue of Resources, and aligning with the EOSC Interoperability Framework.
FAIR2Adapt adopts the FAIR Digital Objects (FDO) approach, using RO-Crate and nanopublications as key tools. It applies semantic bridging strategies such as the I-ADOPT framework and integrates tailored FDO services to build a user-friendly, interoperable, FAIR and open data-sharing environment. Rich case studies across agriculture, energy, industrial sectors, and climate will co-develop FAIR Supporting Resources, demonstrate the value of FAIR and open data in climate adaptation, and support the EU Mission on Climate Adaptation.
The project places strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement and capacity building, enabling the creation of tailored solutions. FAIR2Adapt’s outcomes will support a scalable, flexible and extensible model for data sharing in diverse climate adaptation scenarios. The project’s impact spans scientific innovation, economic resilience, environmental and societal wellbeing, and policy responsiveness.
Within FAIR2Adapt, the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) leads the Work Package on the Core FDO Infrastructure. This involves implementing the standardisation layer of the FAIR2Adapt system architecture for the representation, management, and exchange of research outputs. PSNC’s responsibilities include developing FDO (RO-Crate) profiles for climate adaptation, adapting and extending the ROHub platform to the CCA communities, developing search and discovery services, integrating FAIR2Adapt services in ROHub, and managing the operation and maintenance of the FAIR2Adapt infrastructure. PSNC has played a key role in the conception and realisation of Research Objects and the RO-Crate specification, and has onboarded ROHub to EOSC.
