What seemed so distant not so long ago has become a reality: 2025 is already here and we officially start it with a new management of PSNC! Before we find out what the next twelve months got for us, let’s take a brief look back at 2024. After all, December was full of many interesting events.
Last weeks of 2024 brought several important decisions regarding the future of our Center. PSNC has joined OPERAS – a research infrastructure for the humanities and social sciences, supporting the development of open scientific communication in the European Research Area. Moreover, the OPI (Information Processing Center) had completed the evaluation of funding applications in two calls, as a result of which PSNC, affiliated with the IBCH PAS, became the leader of four and a partner in two projects funded in these calls.
To review some fine events, we go back to CK Zamek in Poznań, which hosted the POZITIVE TECHNOLOGIES conference, gathering IT specialists, digital transformation experts and technology enthusiasts. They came together to exchange knowledge, inspiration and collaboratively shape the future. PSNC headquarters hosted a group of directors and teachers from schools across Wielkopolska region of Poland, who participated there in workshops called “STEAM and AI – Modern Trends in Education”. We also had guests from European NRENs during the SIG AI meeting dedicated to artificial intelligence. Our own specialists, on the other hand, went to Barcelona to deal with a crisis in a fictitious European country called Guilder. All as a part of an annual Géant Crisis Management Workshop (CLAW).
May 2025 bring you all you need to call the coming twelve months a truly great and successful year.

We are happy to announce that Mr Robert Pękal was officially appointed IBCH PAS Director’s Plenipotentiary for Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center. Ladies and gentlemen, it is a pleasure to introduce our new boss.
The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the affiliated Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center will jointly implement seven projects under the FENG operational program (European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021-2027). The program aims to increase Poland’s potential in utilizing advanced technologies in the economy, as well as in research and innovation. The projects were selected for funding under the FENG.02.04-IP.04-002/24 call for projects related to undertakings of network-type institutions consisting of research organizations and the FENG.02.04-IP.04-001/24 call for projects from the Polish Roadmap of Research Infrastructure.
What should the school of the future be like? How to encourage students to learn using the latest technologies? Do smartphones distract or help in learning? Answers to these and some other questions were sought during the conference “STEAM and AI – Modern Trends in Education”, organized as a part of the Active Board program at the Poznań Center. The event took place under the watchful eye of experts from the PSNC Innovative Education Laboratory.
The inaugural meeting of the SIG AI (Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence), operating under the auspices of the GÉANT community, took place at the PSNC headquarters. Representatives from NRENs – leading research and education institutions in Europe — shared ideas, experience, and best practices in the field of artificial intelligence. The event provided also an opportunity to showcase AI-based services and projects implemented at PSNC in areas such as next-generation networks, medicine and education.
They meet once a year to solve a major crisis. We’re talking about the participants of the CLAW – Crisis Management Workshop, organized for members of the GÉANT community. The two-day meeting held this year in Barcelona brought many surprises. The multimedia materials used during the CLAW meeting were as always prepared by a team from the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center.
