The Director of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences has decided to change the composition of the Plenipotentiaries of the Director of IBCH PAS for PSNC. As of October 1, 2024, the function of Acting Director of PSNC is assumed by Robert Pękal, M.Sc.

For the last 18 years, on every last Friday of September, Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center as well as the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, has been inviting everyone who is interested in computer science and all possibilities it gives us. Along with our eight partners we mix knowledge with entertainment to make the Researcher’s Night a special and unforgettable experience for all the science lovers who, for a day – or rather night, can become scientists during a variety of workshops, tours and presentations.

The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (IBCH PAS) has launched its Center for Innovation and Education, which is located in a beautifully restored Art Nouveau villa at 21/23 Wieniawskiego St.

The ECHOES (European Cloud for Heritage OpEn Science) consortium has been selected to manage the creation of the Collaborative European Cloud for Cultural Heritage. The ECHOES project will promote the development of the Digital Commons through a digital environment that enables the collective enrichment and analysis of cultural heritage objects, facts or phenomena. One of the partners of the initiative is the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

Experts from Enea Operator and the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center have developed an algorithm to support the planning of network investment decisions. The result is a fully proprietary tool, the only one of its kind in the Polish energy industry, that supports investment processes based on data from remote reading meters, GIS network information and data from the SCADA system

DataSpace, a website for Europe’s cultural heritage, has been launched with the aim of stimulating interest in Europe’s cultural heritage and promoting digital culture as a public good. The site provides access to high quality data, with an emphasis on 3D, and encourages users to re-use and find new value in it.

The procurement contract of EuroQCS-Poland, the EuroHPC quantum computer to be located in Poland, has been signed by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) and the company AQT, the selected vendor.

Under the signed agreement, the project entitled “Digital Research Infrastructure for the Humanities and Arts DARIAH-PL” has been supported by the development plan under Investment: A2.4.1 Investments in Research Capacity Development of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The project is being implemented as part of a multi-year plan to deepen cooperation in building digital infrastructure for the humanities and arts in Poland.

ROHub is a research object management platform that supports the preservation and lifecycle management of scientific research, research campaigns and operational processes. It has been developed by a team led by Raul Palma, Manager of Data Analytics and Semantics Department at PSNC.

The project entitled: “Simple language in Poznań City Hall” (Polish: “Prosty język w Urzędzie Miasta Poznania”) was awarded a prize in the fifth edition of the “Innovative Local Government” competition organised by the PAP Local Government Service. The project is the result of cooperation between Poznań City Hall, Adam Mickiewicz University and the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center.

This year Poland is celebrating 20 years of its membership in the European Union. To mark the occasion, an open-air exhibition entitled ‘Colours of Science’was presented in four cities: Warsaw, Krakow, Szczecin and Poznań. In the capital of Wielkopolska region, the exhibition can be seen in the courtyard of the headquarters of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center at Jana Pawla II Street. The HPC data storage system at the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center has again been highly ranked in the prestigious IO500 competition held during the ISC High Performance 2024 conference. The system took 8th place in the ’10 Node Production List’ category, in which it was listed for the first time, and 14th place in the ‘Production List’ category, in which the PSNC system has been present since 2023.
