Implementation of the GTFS system for ZTM in Poznan

Implementation of the GTFS system for ZTM in Poznan
Thanks to the service prepared in cooperation between the Digitisation and Cybersecurity Bureau, the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Poznan for Smart City and PSNC, passengers of public transport in the Poznan agglomeration will receive information about the exact time of arrival of a bus or tram. The implementation of the GTFS Realtime system is the next step in the digital transformation of the capital of Wielkopolska region.
The General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) is an international format for saving information about timetables and location of stops in the form of text files. Its implementation will allow, through the use of Google maps, to plan public transport routes, both in Poznan and in the entire agglomeration. Thanks to the service, passengers receive information about the exact time of arrival of a bus or tram.

It is a considerable facilitation, especially since so far on Google maps it was possible to search for connections only on the basis of static, scheduled timetables, without taking into account the acceleration or delay of the course. Now, thanks to the introduced changes, passengers will know more precisely where the vehicle they are waiting for is and how many minutes it will take to arrive.

Specialists from PSNC Future Internet Services Department participated in the implementation works, including the development of files in accordance with Google standards.
