Q-Chronos Kick-off Meeting

Q-Chronos Kick-off Meeting

The initial meeting of the Q-Chronos project took place at the PCSS headquarters on 5 June 5 2025. In practice this project is a system of mobile quantum sensors with optical clocks integrated into telecommunication networks. All project consortium members participated in the event. Apart from the PCSS specialists, there  were representatives from the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

The meeting commenced with organizational matters, including discussions on contract details and the project timeline. Participants also focused on promotion of Q-Chronos. The second part was dedicated to substantive matters concerning the construction of quantum sensors and networks used to compare their readings. Finally, PCSS hosts invited other participants for a brief tour of the Centre’s headquarters.

The goal of the Q-ChronoS project is to build a system of mobile quantum sensors based on optical atomic clocks and an infrastructure for optical frequency transfer, which is going to enable their use across various locations in Poland. The project targets a broad audience interested in quantum technologies, geodesy, metrology, physics, and communication in general.

The project “System of mobile quantum sensors with optical clocks integrated into telecommunication networks Q-ChronoS” is financed under Measure 2.4 of the European Funds for Modern Economy program, reference number FENG.02.04-IP.04-0024/24-00.
