Quantum Technology in Theory and in Practice: PCSS at the Women In Tech Summit 2025

Another edition of the Women In Tech Summit took place in Warsaw. The three days (3-5 June 2025) of this technological conference were a great opportunity to share experiences with representatives of many scientific institutions. They also confirmed an enormous interest in quantum technologies, reflected, among others, in the creation of a separate quantum path within this summit, consisting of over a dozen events entirely devoted exclusively to quantum topics.

The premise of the Women In Tech Summit is to promote innovation in the technology sector and acknowledge the important role that women have in it. However, this does not mean that male voices were absent from the event. PCSS was represented, among others, by Krzysztof Kurowski (Head of the Quantum Technologies Department), who was an active participant in the “Polish Quantum Frontiers” discussion panel, dedicated to unveiling the potential of quantum computing. During the discussion, its participants emphasized the enormous technological progress that can be currently observed in Poland and the contribution of quantum technologies to this phenomenon.

That was the theory – quantum technology in practice was presented by an all female crew from PCSS. Sofia Ivanko and Marta Orłowska (both from the Energy-Efficient ICT Technologies Department) hosted an interactive workshop explaining the basics of quantum computing. Its participants could embody the role of qubits and quantum gates and learn while having lots of fun.

Other prominent topics of the Women In Tech Summit 2025 included: artificial intelligence, business, as well as climate and environmental protection.
