EmpowerHer Project Meeting at PCSS

EmpowerHer Project Meeting at PCSS

On 5 and 6 June 2025, PCSS headquarters (CBPIO) was the heart of the EmpowerHer project created for women who have survived breast cancer and are currently returning to normal life. The first day was divided into a hybrid meeting of experts (Expert Team EmpowerHer) and  discussions among partners of this very special undertaking, which continued on day two.

The aim of the meeting in Poznań was to present the current state of research, literature, and general knowledge regarding support for the target group in the five countries where pilot studies will be conducted. The outcome is intended to be a cohesive set of guidelines and best practices.

Participants of the two-day conference at CBPIO were familiarized with the insights of women who had had a chance to try the solutions provided within the project. They shared their thoughts and opinions during local panels at the University of Valencia and at the OPEN research center in Poznań. Each institution conducted a needs analysis for seven women who had completed breast cancer treatment (collectively yielding fourteen opinions).

Among the participants of the meeting at the Poznań Center were doctors, physiotherapists, diagnosticians, and other experts from six countries where the EmpowerHer project is being implemented – namely: Spain (University of Valencia), the Netherlands (Cluster Sports and Technology), Ireland (Surpassport), Greece (Olympiacos), Belgium (European Platform for Sport Innovation), and, of course, Poland (PCSS).

EmpowerHer is an innovative program that focuses on the multifaceted challenges faced by breast cancer survivors. It takes into account physical, emotional, and social barriers and aims at improving their overall well-being. One of the program’s key objectives is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle; another is to reintegrate cancer survivors into the daily lives they know from before their struggle with the disease.

PCSS’s role in this project includes collecting data on participants’ engagement in the exercise program, conducting validation tests of the user interface, and analyzing the collected data to assess the impact of the pilot program on the physical and psychological well-being of the participating women.
