GeeCON 2012 in Poznan
Once again, Poznan will host Poland’s largest international conference on software development – GeeCON. For three days (16-18.05.2012) world-class IT stars will gather in the capital of Wielkopolska Region. Registration using one of the conference paths will be conducted by PLATON project’s scientific HD TV team.

GeeCON 2012 is a conference centered around the Java language and technologies based on the Java Virtual Machine. For the fourth time, the participants will have the opportunity to meet with world-renowned experts, establish contacts and exchange experiences. This year, just like last year, guests will gather in Multikino 51.

Since the first edition of the conference, the number of participants is steadily growing – from 350 in 2009 up to 500 in 2011. The conference is organized socially by: Java users for other users (and those just discovering the language).

GeeCON 2012 Conference is organized by Polish Java User Group, Poznan Java Users Group, the Association of GIK (IT and Culture Group), but also by the City of Poznan, iStream and Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

As in previous years, also this year among the speakers , the world-renowned experts are present, who will share knowledge and experience, among them:

– Bruce Eckel – author of classic books such as “Thinking in Java” and “Thinking in C + +”;
– Gavin King – founder of Hibernate and Seam frameworks. Leader of the Ceylon language;
– Adam Bien – member of the Java EE Expert Group, Java Champion, JavaOne 2011 Rock Star;
– Keith Braithwaite – an experienced Agile coach. Leader of “Zühlke’s Centre of Agile practice” in London;
– Kevlin Henney – co-author of the following books: “A Pattern Language for Distributed Computing” and “On Patterns and Pattern Languages”;
– Zef Hemel – the developer in Cloud9 IDE, Inc. JavaScript geek;
– Dierk Koenig – committer of many projects including Groovy, Grails, GPars;
– Simon Willnauer – PMC Apache Lucene chairman, co-founder of BerlinBuzzwords;
– Pete Muir – leader of CDI specification 1.1;
– Sam Newman – Consultant at ThoughtWorks, is currently conducting exercises with Cloud & Continuous Delivery Practices in Europe.

GeeCON 2012 will include one day of lectures and two days of presentations:

1) GeeCON University Day (16 May) is a day of long, two-hour speeches, to discuss interesting topics in detail. You can choose from more than ten lectures, divided into four tracks.
2) On 17 and 18 May will take place the main part of the conference with five parallel conference tracks. During their lectures, the experts will share with participants their knowledge and experience on Java, Agile methodologies and Cloud, NoSQL, Groovy, Scala and Android technologies.

    Q-ChronoS: A Mobile Quantum Sensors System in Telecommunication Networks

    “The system of mobile quantum sensors with optical clocks integrated into telecommunication networks (Q-ChronoS)” is a project related to the development of systems of two mobile quantum sensors based on optical atomic clocks and an infrastructure for optical frequency transfer, which will enable their use in various locations in Poland. The project is aimed at a wide range of recipients focused around quantum technologies, geodetics, metrology, physics, radiostrontium and communication.

The projects are introduced by dr inż. Cezary Mazurek during workshops concerning security and resilience of maritime infrastructure, which are a part of Mission Arena 4.
