Poland Announces Its Participation in the EU’s AI Gigafactories Program

The Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs has announced that Poland is finalizing discussions with European Union partners regarding its participation in the EU’s AI Gigafactory building program. Following the conclusion of public consultations, a formal application is expected to be submitted to EU structures before 20 June 2025.

This initiative is based on Poland’s existing strategic investment, the PIAST AI Factory at PCSS. This new research and development center is going to focus on key areas including:

  • Space and robotics – developing AI algorithms to support automation and space exploration.
  • Health and life sciences – applying artificial intelligence in bioinformatics and medical diagnostics.
  • Sustainable development – utilizing AI in agriculture, energy industry, and mitigating extreme weather phenomena.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs estimates that the proposed Gigafactory, for which Poland is applying, will eventually scale up to 30,000 graphics processing units, representing an investment of approximately 5 billion PLN.
