TNC25: Brighter Together

TNC25: Brighter Together

The 2025 edition of the TNC conference is about to begin. The most significant European event dedicated to research and academic networks is taking place in Brighton (UK), from 9 to 13 June. “Brighter Together” is the official slogan of this year’s edition, which also marks PCSS’ tenth anniversary as the conference’s official technological partner.

Each edition of TNC brings together nearly a thousand participants from 70 countries. All of them represent national and regional research and education networks, universities, technology providers, and leading scientific projects. Since its conception, the conference has been organized by GÉANT, and shaped as a unique platform for collaboration. Its attendees include: network and security specialists, identity and access management experts, scientists, academic lecturers, and students. TNC’s agenda covers a wide range of topics, including groundbreaking solutions in cybersecurity, international partnerships, and network resilience, focusing on solutions for current and upcoming challenges.

PCSS, as the main technological partner of TNC, ensures full multimedia support for the conference. Cameras will cover the most important events, and the main sessions will be broadcast online. Specialists from the Poznań Center are also responsible for managing the web systems, including preparing the TNC25 website, handling full registration with payment processing, and generating participant badges.

The conference will also feature an expo zone where PCSS and the PIONIER consortium will showcase the latest results from some ongoing research projects like:

WEDROWNIQ

ŚWIATOWID

Q-CHRONOS

PCSS representatives will also participate in thematic panels, presenting projects and services implemented by the Center:

  • Piotr Rydlichowski and Domenico (Dom) Vicinanza (GÉANT) will discuss the current trends and European Commission initiatives related to the development of quantum technologies – computing, communication, and metrology. They will cover programs and infrastructure development, as well as synergies and connections of these technologies within the context of activities carried out by NREN scientific networks in Europe.
  • Kajetan Kubik and Witold Taisner will present SUBMERSE, which can be described as a technological revolution in the oceans – the project focuses on fiber optic submarine cables evolving from simple data highways to dynamic environmental sensors, unlocking unlimited scientific possibilities.
  • Tomasz Parkoła will talk about “Proste pismo” (Simple Writing), a tool for simplifying the language of official documents. This tool was developed in collaboration with linguists from the Adam Mickiewicz University, employees of the Poznań City Hall, and specialists from PCSS. The project was created for people who need to create official texts and documents in either traditional or electronic form; it is designed especially for employees of various offices and state institutions.
  • Agnieszka Stokłosa will moderate a discussion on assessing interest in establishing a Policy Special Interest Group (SIG), which focuses on political issues relevant to NRENs and the GÉANT project. It is related to Task WP2T4 of the GN5-2 project.
