The “AI for Youth” is a new project of the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center and SDA sp. Z o.o. The aim of the initiative is to disseminate basic knowledge and skills to use artificial intelligence algorithms among young people.

Lessons on AI (Artificial Intelligence) in 60 secondary schools will start next school year and will cover 1,800 students and 120 teachers. The “AI for Youth” project consists of over 90 hours of practical classes that will provide knowledge and the necessary tools to learn about AI. Participants will be able to create their own social projects using artificial intelligence algorithms. There will be prizes for the authors of the best ideas.

The new project will be based on the previous experiences of artificial intelligence classes for children and teenagers. In cooperation with Intel, PSNC has conducted so far two full editions of the Intel® AI For Youth course for Polish teachers and students (including one online), a course for NREN teachers and employees from Germany, and one edition of the Intel® AI For Youth Express program for teachers in Spain, Italy, Portugal and France. These activities took place in the experimental “living laboratory” spaces of the of “Future Labs” innovative education . BBC produced a video material on the topic of Intel® AI For Youth, in which the authors and participants talk about the project.

“We found AI education courses to be something we should start doing as soon as possible. If we do not invest in developing artificial intelligence skills, we will undoubtedly miss out on many opportunities, especially in the context of new generations. That is why we decided to support the pilot program and encourage young people and creative teachers to join it “- said Krzysztof Kurowski, PhD, Technical Director of PSNC.

The Center in Poznan conducts training in the field of artificial intelligence and the creation of innovative projects using Design Thinking method. It also provides the PIONIER Research & Classroom educational platform, which includes a programming environment, suitable for the implementation of projects in the area of advanced data analysis, image processing and computer vision as well as neurolinguistic programming (NLP).
