EQTC 2023 Quantum Conference in Hannover

EQTC 2023 Quantum Conference in Hannover

“Quantum-ready, future-ready” – this was the slogan of this year’s European Quantum Technology Conference (EQTC) held in Hannover. The event, held every two years, is an opportunity to bring together the European community developing and implementing quantum technologies – quantum computing, quantum communications and quantum metrology. It is an opportunity to meet both the scientific community and companies that commercialise and implement solutions based on quantum technologies.

This year’s edition featured more than 700 key figures from the world of science, politics, industry, as well as start-ups and young talents. The programme included nearly 120 talks, 40 sessions and many exhibitors. Event attendees could also take part in innovative tours, community events and poster sessions.

The conference, organized, among others, by the European Commission, was an excellent opportunity to introduce quantum technologies and developments in the environment as well as the research ecosystem as a whole to a wider audience. During EQTC23, a number of presentations were given, discussing the latest developments in specific areas of quantum technology, discussing new projects and new funding perspectives for quantum technology research activities. A strong point of the conference was the direct cooperation of the whole quantum technology community and the European Commission to work out the best mechanisms and address potential problems.

From the point of view of the PSNC, the EQTC2023 conference was particularly important. The European Commission officially announced the EuroQCS-Poland procedure for the purchase of quantum computing infrastructure for the consortium coordinated by the Poznan Center. This is the first proceeding carried out under the EuroQCS programme and led by EuroHPC JU. PSNC representatives presented the selected aspects of the integration of communication and quantum computing infrastructures – EuroQCI and EuroQCS. PSNC is the only institution in Europe which coordinates a project from both the EuroQCS and EuroQCI programmes.
