In January 2022, the European Union allocated €17 million to the ILIAD consortium under the Horizon2020 program to develop and launch an innovative Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) that will provide highly accurate predictions of future developments at global seas. Open Call #2 – DEPLOY aims to deploy high value and impactful pilots which employ demeter methodologies and technologies addressing clear farmers’ needs. Up to €150,000 equity-free funding per consortia is available per successful project. The deadline for submitting the proposals is 16th February 2022.

October saw the end of research and development work on the system of interaction support for people with profound complex intellectual disabilities, conducted in the INSENSION project, which was coordinated by PSNC. On Wednesday, December 15, the consortium presented the results of completed activity during a meeting with experts from the European Commission related to the final evaluation of the project. The meeting was held online.

The EUHubs4Data (The European federation of Data Driven Innovation Hubs) project has launched its second Open Call for SMEs, startups and web entrepreneurs. The deadline for applications is February 1, 2022.

During the Eco Connect Poland 2021 conference, the largest and most important annual conference of Huawei Enterprise Poland, PRACE-LAB received an award in the category of Most Innovative Project of 2021. The project offers advanced computing and data storage services, supporting scientific communities in the country and Europe as well as industrial research in the economy.

In November, by the decision of the PRACE AISBL Steering Committee, the Director of Data Processing Technologies Division, Dr. Eng. Norbert Meyer, was nominated to the PRACE strategic group. This group is defining the directions for the development of advanced computing in Europe as well as the tasks of the PRACE consortium in the context of these goals.

Lists of the world’s fastest supercomputers and the most energy efficient machines are created twice a year (in June and November), traditionally at the largest HPC conferences: ISC (International Supercomputing Conference) in Europe and Supercomputing in the USA.

The Swiss Dalle Molle Foundation for Quality of Life has awarded the PELOSHA (Personalizable Services For Supporting Healthy Aging) project. The project is implemented by an international consortium of scientific and industrial units from Poland, Belgium, Switzerland and Hungary. Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center is the consortium leader.

The Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan – Professor Bogumiła Kaniewska handed in the appointments to the members of the Economic Council of the University. The Council consists of well-known personalities of economic life of Wielkopolska region and entire Poland. Among the appointed was the Director of Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center – Cezary Mazurek, PhD.

The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre developed free educational materials to help carry out an information campaign on COVID-19 prevention among students as a reponse to the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Science.

On 21 October 2021 the State Higher Vocational School in Walcz, represented by H.M. Rector, Dr Dariusz Skalski, professor of the university, signed an agreement on cooperation for the development of technologies and competences for the industry and society of the future with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, represented by Dr Cezary Mazurek – Director of PSNC.
