PSNC at Bio-IT World Conference & Expo 2024

On 15-17 April 2024, the 23rd edition of the Bio-IT World Conference & Expo, considered the largest bioinformatics conference in the world, was held in Boston. Representatives of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center – Dr Eng. Cezary Mazurek, and Dr Mikołaj Buchwald – participated in the event, which was organised under the motto ‘Building a Global Network for Precision Medicine’.

The three-day conference, which brought together experts from around the world, featured more than 200 presentations in thematic panels. Participants shared experiences and knowledge on trends and technologies used to bring new medicines to market. They also discussed how to improve the quality of patient care in the broadest sense.

The Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center actively marked its participation in two sessions: Dr Eng. Cezary Mazurek, co-presented a paper entitled: 𝘜𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘳𝘶𝘨 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵-𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘛𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘴, 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘰 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘝𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴. The panel discussed, among other things, the impact of AI technology on the selection process of ‘candidate’ molecules in drug manufacturing, the idea of virtual clinical trials and the use of digital twins to monitor drug efflux and propose new ‘candidate’ molecules.

Dr Mikolaj Buchwald, in a session on cloud computing, presented the ENDO-CLOUD system, under development at PSNC to collect and tag data from endolaryngoscopes and create AI models for clinical laryngology based on this data.
