PSNC begins the implementation of the “AEROSFERA. Airport of Things” project at the airport in Kąkolewo
Modern laboratory space and hangar for testing Unmanned Aircraft with a total area of ​​1500 m² will be created as part of the “Aerosfera. Airport of Things” project, financed under the Wielkopolska Operational Program for 2014-2020, the European Regional Development Fund implemented by the Marshal’s Office of the Voivodeship of Wielkopolska. The project will be implemented by the Poznań University of Technology in cooperation with the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, Poznań Aeroclub Wanda Modlibowska and Andrzej Szymański “LARS”. On November 26 at 12.00 Marshal Marek Woźniak, on behalf of the managing authority of WRPO 2014+, will sign the contract with the Rector of Poznan University of Technology prof. dr. hab. Tomasz Łodygowski.

The aim of the project is primarily to equip the airport in Kąkolewo with scientific and research infrastructure to carry out works in the area of ​​R&D for the needs of air transport, logistics, monitoring, supervision and neutralization of events and disasters. The project provides for investments that will increase the research potential of the Poznan University of Technology and PSNC within such innovative areas as: the operation and use of unmanned / manned aircraft and R&D laboratory, integration of solutions in the airport management system, including infrastructure elements, security and airport security.

The modern PSNC laboratory base will include, among others:
– Autonomous and Energy Saving Airport Infrastructure Laboratory
– Airport Safety and Security Laboratory
– Unmanned Aircraft Development Laboratory
– Flight and Sky Control Systems Development Laboratory

The project is part of Measure 1.1 “Support for R&D infrastructure in the science sector” of the Wielkopolska Regional Operational Program for 2014-2020.
