Safe-Home: Security-Aware Fog-based Efficient Home Monitoring for Elders
Safe-Home is an international project involving scientific institutions, universities and entrepreneurs from Portugal, South Korea, the Czech Republic and Poland, represented by the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center and medvc.eu company. The non-invasive system for monitoring the health and wellbeing of the elderly was featured on Europa Minha by the Portuguese RTP TV channel.

The work of the Polish consortium, focuses on the development of a videoconferencing application for emergency situations. Using data from different types of sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms, the SAFE-HOME platform is able to detect alarm situations that an elderly person may find themselves in, such as a fall. The application allows the use of various end-user devices, such as a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, while ensuring security and privacy, so that only designated people can connect with the elderly person’s home and only in emergency situations. The app also works the other way around – allowing older people to make a connection by sending a contact request to a carer.

You can learn about the operation of the Safe Home platform, among others: in the “Europa Minha” program prepared by Portuguese television: https://www.rtp.pt/play/p11991/e720086/europa-minha
