Infobazy 2011: “Science, European Projects, Information Society”
Not only databases, but also issues concerning the construction of distributed and multimedia databases, as well as safety of both the bases and tool aspects will be the main topics of the 6th edition of INFOBAZY Conference, held from 5th to 7th September in Gdańsk.

This year’s scientific sessions will focus around the databases of various types: natural (including GIS), the field of earth sciences, meteorology, agricultural, medical, physical, chemical, biochemical, technical and economic, as well as humanistic, historical, concerning museums, art, libraries and science databases.

This year’s edition will be important in many respects. Year 2011 is the essential step in the implementation of many projects under ”Innovative Economy 2007-2013 Operational Programme” concerning progress in the development of databases and information resources in digital learning and deployment of advanced communication services and applications for the scientific community. In particular, further visions of development projects, such as Virtual Library of Science, as well as the dissemination of information and the presentation of current achievements in the creation and sharing of databases for science and society, including the central and regional administration.

The 6th edition of the Conference will focus on applications and services necessary for the development of the Information Society, in particular on the European projects, which significantly support, financially and thematically, ”Development of Scientific IT Infrastructure 2007-2013”, including the creation of databases for science. In accordance with the will expressed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education INFOBAZY 2011 Conference will be a forum for presenting the status of these projects, and will result in a number of joint initiatives and proposals for new research projects and implementation.

Infobazy is traditionally organized by CI TASK, Gdansk University of Technology Department of Biomedical Engineering Department and Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Science. It is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Chairman of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Rector of Gdansk University of Technology. The conference is traditionally supported by the Polish National Committee of CODATA of the Polish Academy of Science Presidium.
