Cast your vote for the “Regional Covid-Hub” project

The Regional Covid-Hub project, jointly implemented by the Local Government of the Wielkopolska Region, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, has been qualified for the final round of the DT4REGIONS Award competition and has a chance to win the grand prize. The winner will be selected by online voting.

The “Regional Covid-Hub” project, which was implemented since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Poland, has allowed the maximum use of existing resources to monitor the course of the pandemic, but also to diagnose and, above all, detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The artificial intelligence used in the project provided the opportunity to detect the virus infection on the basis of an X-ray image, even before the testing became widespread. Its continuous learning capability continues to sustain the functionality of the solution.

In addition, the platform provides support for everyone involved in scientific research on Covid and the crisis management in a pandemic situation. This model, as a good practice for dealing with epidemiological threats similar to Covid-19, can be successfully used in the future.

The DT4REGIONS award aims to highlight the best digital solutions, such as technology initiatives and applications based on artificial intelligence and Big Data, that are currently being used by public administrations in Europe. In addition, it encourages a bottom-up exchange of best practices, digital solutions adopted by national and regional governments or public authorities at all levels to improve cooperation and mutual learning.

The solution, created in the capital of Wielkopolska Region, has already been recognized as one of the best qualifiers. Anyone can support the project, after reading the “How to vote” instructions, creating an account on the website and casting a vote at https://dt4regions.eu/award-shortlist
