The project, submitted by the cooperation of the “an_ARCHE New Music Foundation”, the Telematics Laboratory of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan and PSNC, was among 1200 beneficiaries for cultural activities online as part of the “Culture on the Web” program, organized by the National Center for Culture.
The “Concert machine” will be a kind of internet portal (telematic music environment) combining the functions of:
- popularization (broadcasts from concerts, improvisations and rehearsals),
- artistic (composer’s orders),
- research (live music in many places simultaneously, interactive audience participation).
The initiators of the project are convincednthat its final effect will be a starter package: a web portal, with its unique features of interaction between the artist and the virtual audience, its basic functionality as well as order possibility as well as implementation of four compositions for musicians in many locations and with the participation of the interactive audience. The project duration is quite short, the results should be ready in the second half of this year.
The “Culture on the Web” program met with great interest, actually the largest in the history of grant programs of the National Center of Culture. A total of 5,948 applications were submitted to the program for a total amount of over PLN 471 million. After formal and substantive evaluation, 1,182 winning projects were selected. The contracting phase and the launch of the first grant payments will start in May.
During the Ars Electronica 2019 Festival (Linz, Austria), a network streaming show from Poznan, implemented by PSNC, was sent to Deep Space 8K in Linz. In the "Around Art" cycle, we'll take a closer look at one of the first live 8K implementations of this kind in the world.

Scientists from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznan developed the first Polish test detecting the presence of SARS-CoV-2. A remote lecture entitled: "Advanced technologies for immersive visualizations and 8K streaming" was organized in the 8K studio at the PSNC headquarters. This event was a part of the Modern Computer Networks course, led by Maciej Głowiak and Eric Skotarczak (PSNC New Media Department) for students of the Faculty of Computer Science of the Poznan University of Technology.
Preparations to the performance entitled: "Beniowski. Ballade without a hero” directed by Małgorzata Warsicka are in progress at Teatr Nowy in Poznan. Once again, PSNC will organize the broadcast online. This is already the third initiative of this type recently.
The Wielkopolska Team for the Safety of Children and Youth, chaired by the Governor of Wielkopolska Region Łukasz Mikołajczyk, invites school teachers from Wielkopolska to participate in a webinar devoted to the challenges faced by class teachers in times of remote education. The winners of the first Pan-European EUvsVirus hackathon were announced. The three-day competition gathered an extra-ordinary number of participants - over 20,00. The aim of the event was to create innovative solutions in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. Representatives of the Poznan Center took part in the hackathon as mentors.

PSNC created an application for the VOX furniture brand that integrates numerous tools for modern remote customer service. Nowadays, in the era of coronavirus epidemics and restrictions associated with the virus, this application becomes very popular.
More and more often, modern technologies are perceived by artists and art creators as a potential inspiration and a kind of artwork material. One of the main goals of the Vertigo STARTS initiative, created under the aegis of the European Commission in Horizon 2020, is to stimulate synergy between artists or cultural institutions, and research and development institutes in the field of IT technologies. Last year's edition of the program was attended by a conceptual artist from Berlin - Theresa Schubert, who resided at PSNC within the current project.
Recently, the media have been publishing many materials on PSNC and the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences' participation in projects aimed at fighting the coronavirus epidemic.
