Delivery and installation of technological cooling system equipment took place at the Technology Building of the Polish Optical Internet Research Center (CBPIO). Thanks to the expansion of the cooling capacity, the building will be equipped with two cooling circuits with a capacity of 1.2 MW each, so that it will be possible to ensure a high level of availability of equipment classically cooled with air using a refrigerant.
In addition, as part of the modernization of the equipment, the efficiency of the energy-saving cooling system will be increased to extend the operation time of the air conditioning system without the use of compressors producing cold. This will significantly reduce cooling costs.
Meanwhile, two new 2.5 MW transformers have been put into operation as part of previous deliveries, and the busbar infrastructure has been expanded by 100%, which represents a major advance in the development of the PSNC server room. This expansion allows the following functionalities to be increased:
- Ensuring stable and reliable power supply: by having more high-power transformers, we can guarantee that the server room will operate stably and without power outages. This is crucial for maintaining the continuity of operation of servers and other devices in the server room,
- Ability to increase computing power: by expanding our busbar infrastructure, we can take advantage of more space in the server room and install new HPC servers, computing, cloud and storage systems. This will enable us to increase computing and processing power,
- Risk reduction: by having more high-powered transformers, we reduce the risk of failures and ensure redundancy in power supply. This increases the level of security and reliability in the operation of the server room,
- Scalability: the expansion of the server room with the installation of new HPC, computing, cloud servers and storage systems means that we will be able to expand our infrastructure more easily in the future. This is important because the growing requirements of customers for computing power and data processing will require continuous development of the server infrastructure.
