Discussing AI at Tech of Tomorrow Conference

The Tech of Tomorrow conference took place in Poznań on 19 and 20 March 2025. Its main focus was on the integration of advanced technological solutions in business – blockchain, AI and the Internet of Things in particular. Dr inż Marcin Lawenda from the New HPC Architectures Department of PSNC took part in the discussion panel titled “Building AI in Europe: Talent, Infrastructure, and Real-World Deployment”.

Apart from dr Lawenda, the “Building AI in Europe” panel featured also Krzysztof Walas, who was representing both the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and IDEAS NCBR, as well as Bartosz Hetmański from Beyond.pl. Their discussions concentrated on the European strategy of AI development on the Old Continent in the light of the US and Chinese supremacy in building large language models, HPC centers and conducting academic research.

One of the hot topics of the conference was the creation of the PIAST-AI Factory in Poznań. Participants were particularly interested in using its potential for the benefit of small and medium enterprises.

Another important issue was the negative influence of strict European law (EU AI Act) concerning the privacy of data on the AI development and innovations on the Old Continent.
