EURORDIS: This year’s awards presented

At this year’s EURORDIS awards ceremony in Brussels, Michał Kosiedowski, Head of the Future Internet Services Department of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, received the Black Pearl Award in the Medical Technologies category for the implementation of the INSENSION project.

The Black Pearl Award is presented by EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, a network of more than 1,000 rare disease organisations. The Black Pearl Award recognises innovative, research-based work in support of people with severe multiple disabilities.

The INSENSION project, carried out by PSNC together with five partners from Poland, Spain, Germany and Slovenia and funded by Horizon 2020, ended in December 2021. It was the world’s first attempt to create a technological solution that enables people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PIMD) to use digital services and applications.

The award was received by the project coordinator, Michał Kosiedowski, during the gala in Brussels.
