On June 16, 2020, the official opening of the Air Traffic Control Center in Poznan near the Poznan-Lawica airport took place. The building was visited by, among others: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, CEO of CPK Mikołaj Wild, CEO of PANSA Janusz Janiszewski. The ceremony was also attended by the PSNC management and the rector of the Poznan University of Technology. PSNC had its role in this event, as the building is now connected to the PIONIER network, and the PSNC drone was able to demonstrate live the operation of the electronic flight control system for PANSA UTM drones.

Due to the special international situation caused by the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Immersify project could not be presented at the Cannes International Film Festival in May this year. In return, the project partners, in particular, PSNC and Ars Electronica from Austria, decided to showcase the final results in a demonstration that will take place on June 17 at 11:00 am CET and will broadcast online.

This year’s edition of TNC Conference, to be held in Brighton in the first half of June, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The winners of the Medal of Honour, awarded annually by the Karel Vietsch Foundation, were announced during a specially organised on-line session on 11 June. The winners were Bartłomiej Idzikowski from PSNC’s New Media Department and Erik Kikkenborg from NORDUnet.

A remote lecture entitled: “Advanced technologies for immersive visualizations and 8K streaming” was organized in the 8K studio at the PSNC headquarters. This event was a part of the Modern Computer Networks course, led by Maciej Głowiak and Eric Skotarczak (PSNC New Media Department) for students of the Faculty of Computer Science of the Poznan University of Technology.

Preparations to the performance entitled: “Beniowski. Ballade without a hero” directed by Małgorzata Warsicka are in progress at Teatr Nowy in Poznan. Once again, PSNC will organize the broadcast online. This is already the third initiative of this type recently.

The Wielkopolska Team for the Safety of Children and Youth, chaired by the Governor of Wielkopolska Region Łukasz Mikołajczyk, invites school teachers from Wielkopolska to participate in a webinar devoted to the challenges faced by class teachers in times of remote education. The co-organizers of the event, which will take place on May 14th this year, will be the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Office, the Wielkopolska Education Office and PSNC.

This is yet another time during the outbreak of the coronavirus, that PSNC will organize a direct broadcast from Teatr Nowy (the New Theater) in Poznan. We invite you on Friday, 8th May to the performance „Dziewczynka z za/przyszłość boli tylko raz” directed by Mariusz Zaniewski. The event will be available through social media channels.

The Future Industry Platform, Poznan Science and Technology Park and PSNC invite you to a technological meeting for manufacturing companies which plan to implement digital solutions. The meeting will be held in the form of a webinar organized on May 12 at 10:00.

The winners of the first Pan-European EUvsVirus hackathon were announced. The three-day competition gathered an extra-ordinary number of participants – over 20,00. The aim of the event was to create innovative solutions in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. Representatives of the Poznan Center took part in the hackathon as mentors.

The topic of the event was the first Polish test for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Remote questions were answered by representatives of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where the test was developed. PSNC provided the technical support to to the event.

The European Commission invites you to take part in a Europe-wide hackathon aimed at developing innovative solutions to overcome the social problems caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. The event will take place this weekend 24-26 April 2020. PSNC is officially joining the action.

Chinese Shenzhen has been a partner city of the capital of Wielkopolska since 1993. Last Thursday (March 26, 2020), a videoconference between the Shenzhen hospital and specialists from the Jozef Strus hospital in Poznan was organized. The connection from Poland was technically supported by PSNC.
