PSNC at the opening of the new Air Traffic Control Center in Poznan

On June 16, 2020, the official opening of the Air Traffic Control Center in Poznan near the Poznan-Lawica airport took place. The building was visited by, among others: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, CEO of CPK Mikołaj Wild, CEO of PANSA Janusz Janiszewski. The ceremony was also attended by the PSNC management and the rector of the Poznan University of Technology. PSNC had its role in this event, as the building is now connected to the PIONIER network, and the PSNC drone was able to demonstrate live the operation of the electronic flight control system for PANSA UTM drones.

Final Immersify demonstration

Due to the special international situation caused by the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Immersify project could not be presented at the Cannes International Film Festival in May this year. In return, the project partners, in particular, PSNC and Ars Electronica from Austria, decided to showcase the final results in a demonstration that will take place on June 17 at 11:00 am CET and will broadcast online.

Bartłomiej Idzikowski was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Vietsch Foundation

This year’s edition of TNC Conference, to be held in Brighton in the first half of June, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The winners of the Medal of Honour, awarded annually by the Karel Vietsch Foundation, were announced during a specially organised on-line session on 11 June. The winners were Bartłomiej Idzikowski from PSNC’s New Media Department and Erik Kikkenborg from NORDUnet.

Webinar for students of Poznan University of Technology

A remote lecture entitled: “Advanced technologies for immersive visualizations and 8K streaming” was organized in the 8K studio at the PSNC headquarters. This event was a part of the Modern Computer Networks course, led by Maciej Głowiak and Eric Skotarczak (PSNC New Media Department) for students of the Faculty of Computer Science of the Poznan University of Technology.

Webinar: “The class teachers’ work in times of remote education”

The Wielkopolska Team for the Safety of Children and Youth, chaired by the Governor of Wielkopolska Region Łukasz Mikołajczyk, invites school teachers from Wielkopolska to participate in a webinar devoted to the challenges faced by class teachers in times of remote education. The co-organizers of the event, which will take place on May 14th this year, will be the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Office, the Wielkopolska Education Office and PSNC.

Record-breaking hackathon against the virus

The winners of the first Pan-European EUvsVirus hackathon were announced. The three-day competition gathered an extra-ordinary number of participants – over 20,00. The aim of the event was to create innovative solutions in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. Representatives of the Poznan Center took part in the hackathon as mentors.

IBCH PAS videoconference at PSNC headquaters

The topic of the event was the first Polish test for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Remote questions were answered by representatives of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where the test was developed. PSNC provided the technical support to to the event.
