PSNC will again broadcast the opera from Teatr Wielki in Poznan

On January 14-17, 2021, Teatr Wielki in Poznan will stage again performances as part of the experimental opera project “ISOLATION: Carmen/Don Giovanni/Don Pasquale” directed by Krzysztof Cichenski in the theater foyer. PSNC will record and broadcast the event on the Internet.

As the creators argue, “Isolation” is an experimental opera project, creatively reacting to the reality of the pandemic. Each of the characters conducts his own independent monodrama. Sometimes the individual fragments seem to form a dialogue – it is deliberately unclear to what extent the characters interact with each other. Their intention is to speak on their own behalf, to act out memories and scenes from their own opera (although in shreds, in a different order, in flashes of memory, reflexes and emotions). The isolation in which Carmen, Don Giovanni and Don Pasquale find themselves causes them to behave on the verge of insanity (they hear voices but are not sure of their senses, feel fear or excitement, although they do not know why).

The director’s concept places 3 characters from the operas of Bizet, Mozart, and Donizetti in one common space, and at the same time, yet isolated in white “cubicles”. All this is connected by technology, allowing the audience to simultaneously view the activity of all the characters during the performance.

The PSNC team will record and broadcast the show on the Internet (with live subtitles, libretto in Polish and English), which will be available in the eWejsciowki.pl system. This is another co-production carried out by consortium composed of PSNC (New Media Department) and TechInnowacje Sp. z o.o., in cooperation with Teatr Wielki in Poznan.

Due to the restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, this event will be available via streaming.
