The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (IBCH PAS) has launched its Center for Innovation and Education, which is located in a beautifully restored Art Nouveau villa at 21/23 Wieniawskiego St.
The 1910 building, which underwent a substantial metamorphosis, houses now research laboratories that have been flourishing at the Institute for years. The fields of science which will be explored there include: molecular biology, bioimaging, genomics, and archaeogenomics (including a laboratory for the analysis of fossil DNA). The local scientists are going to use modern methods of the next-generation sequencing, single-cell analysis, ultra-high-resolution microscopy and high-throughput screening.
Other, but also important goals of the Institute are popularization of science and creating a space for collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs and members of the local community. To serve those purposes, lecture rooms and laboratories which are open for public were created there. They also emphasize both educational and promotional aspects of this place. The coordinator of the Center for Innovation and Education is the former director of IBCH PAS – prof. dr. hab. Marek Figlerowicz.
