National Data Storage: delivery of the long-term storage system elements

On 26 May 2023, Integrale IT, as part of the implementation of Contract No. 131/PCSS/2023 dated 13.03.2023, delivered to the CBPIO Technology Rooms Building, elements of the long-term data storage system related to the implementation of the project “National Data Storage (NDS). Universal infrastructure for sharing, storage and effective processing of large data volumes in HPC, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence models”.

The NDS concept involves a fundamental reengineering of the architecture into an open, modular, extensible, decentralised and scalable data storage with a range of access interfaces as well as integrated services and applications, including mechanisms to support efficient storage and access to data (multipoint I/O, caching), long-term data management, exploration, analysis and efficient processing.

The capacity of the delivered IBM TS4500 tape system will be 180.8 PB stored on JE-generation Jaguar tapes. In addition, as part of the extension of the current infrastructure, the capacity of the cache memory based on HDD disks will be 1PB and the database systems will have at their disposal 50 TB of capacity realised on SSD disks.
